The Great Plains
Oklahoma/Kansas/Texas 2015

Spring 2015 was the first season that I storm chased, and I started off as a complete beginner. Luckily, I was living in Oklahoma with 9 other meteorology students from the University of Reading.

Since arriving in August 2014, I had already witnessed the best thunderstorms I had ever seen (which is not hard coming from the UK) and excitement built as storm season in spring approached. I usually went with a small group of freinds, squeezing in a chase around lectures and other commitments. None of us had any experience, but using our own knowledge, teamwork and a couple of hundred dollars spent on equipment, we managed not to get killed - and see Mother Nature's true fury. On the 7 occasions that I went chasing, I witnessed the most epic weather I've seen to date.

These are the stories of an excitable young Brit in Tornado Alley.

Great Plains 2018

2018 was the first proper "Chasecation" I've ever been on. Three university friends and I decided to team up and chase the storms ourselves, in a three-week adventure that none of us will ever forget. In that time, we visited seven states and drove 7400 miles, went on eight storm chases and saw five tornadoes. As well as this, I saw the best-structured storms I've ever seen, as well as some awesome cloudscapes and the greatest lightning I've ever caught on camera. What a trip!

 The UK

Storm chasing reports from the UK - these are mainly going to be local storm chases, from southern and south-eastern parts of the UK. I will chase whenever time and conveince suit me. If you look hard enough, you can find British severe weather to rival that experienced on a regular basis in the Great Plains!
